COMMUNITY PROJECTS
We seek to work with community leaders to identify projects that are meaningful and beneficial, no matter how small, and then following through with a commitment to deliver that project. Samoan Enhancement Projects ID: SA01: Paving Breaker – Lava Field Cultivation Requirement: During our last visit to Samoa, we spent time with Tangaloa from Savai’i in Toa and around villages who are small lot farmers seeking to cultivate cacao, coffee and other products on the rich but rock hard lava fields. Many are seeking to re-establish there plantations after the 2013 Cyclone. The process of breaking through the lava to replant is slow, heavy, hard and very manual work. Solution: We donated a suitable paving breaker to Samoa for use by the communities.
TREE TO BAR: SUSTAINABLE FARMING PRACTISES
We empower communities to support our village economies and work directly with women domestic plot farmers in sustainable cacao cultivation.
INDIGENOUS CULTIVATION OF LANDS
First nations peoples have coexisted with Papatuanuku (mother earth) for thousands of years with the knowledge that when we respect the land, we respect the tagata (people) and le tino (our bodies).
ORGANIC, ALLERGY SAFE & VEGAN
We want to create inclusive edible creations that you can share with everyone.
HAND WRAPPED WITH ALOFA (LOVE)
We try to consider each material used to package our products – compostable, recycled or can be recycled. Looking after our environment is important to us
Living Koko acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which we are based on, Narrm (Melbourne); the Wurundjeri and neighbouring Boonwurrung Peoples of the Kulin Nation, Australia. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded.
